Sales of motorcycles, a barometer of purchasing power of middle-income group, from January to October edged up 8.55 percent to 5.33 million units year over year, according to data released on Wednesday.
The motorcycle industry association (AISI) was upbeat about the sales of the motorcycle passing a 6.3-million- unit target by the year-end.
The hike of the sales was contributed by soaring prices and demand of global commodities, the major exported products from Indonesia, according to Sigit Kumala, head of the association's commerce department.
In 2017, the cumulative sales of the motorcycles by October were down 0.06 percent.
