WASHINGTON, April 15 (Xinhua) -- China's holdings of U.S. Treasuries increased for a third consecutive month in February to 1.131 trillion U.S. dollars, according to the data released Monday by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Remaining the largest foreign holder of U.S. Treasuries, China held 1.126 trillion dollars of U.S. Treasuries in January, a slight increase from a month earlier.

Japan's holdings of U.S. Treasuries increased to 1.072 trillion dollars in February, up from the 1.070 trillion dollars in January.

Combined, China and Japan hold more than one third of the total foreign holdings of U.S. Treasuries.

Aggregating net foreign acquisitions of long-term securities, short-term U.S. securities and banking flows, the result was a 21.6-billion-dollar net foreign outflow of U.S. securities in February, the data showed.
