In volume terms, overall manufacturing sales rose 1.6 percent. Sales of transportation equipment increased 4.5 percent, petroleum and coal product sales rose 8.2 percent and primary metal sales rose 5.3 percent in March.

Meanwhile, sales increased in the aerospace product and parts with 7.1 percent, machinery 2.2 percent, miscellaneous 7.2 percent and computer and electronic product 3.8 percent.
