S.Korea's producer price falls in June on cheaper crude oil

SEOUL, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Prices for goods and services among South Korean suppliers fell last month on cheaper crude oil, central bank data showed Friday.

The producer price index (PPI) came in at 103.49 in June, down 0.3 percent from a month earlier, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

It marked the first decline in five months as Dubai crude, South Korea's benchmark, averaged 61.78 U.S. dollars per barrel in June, down 7.6 dollars from the previous month.

Price for coal and oil products tumbled 6.5 percent in June from a month ago, with chemical product price sliding 0.4 percent.

Price for DRAM memory chips diminished 5.3 percent, but services price was unchanged last month.

Prices for agricultural, livestock and fishery products dipped 0.5 percent last month amid an increased shipment of farm goods.
