Serbia, China voice will to cement cooperation

BELGRADE, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- President of Serbia and the ruling Progressive Party of Serbia (SNS) Aleksandar Vucic and Yang Xiaodu, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met here on Monday, expressing the hope to strengthen cooperation.

Yang, who is also deputy secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and head of the national supervisory commission, conveyed Chinese President and General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping's greetings to Vucic.

Yang said that the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries has flourished under the strategic leadership of the two leaders, and China is working with Serbia to implement the important consensuses reached by the two leaders and expand cooperation in all areas within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Yang said China spoke highly of the remarkable achievements made by Serbia under the leadership of Vucic, adding that the CPC is willing to strengthen exchanges with the SNS, learn from each other and jointly boost the development of bilateral relations.

Yang hoped that the two countries would actively cooperate in the area of anti-corruption, and jointly promote the construction of a clean Silk Road.

Vucic asked Yang to send his best wishes to President Xi and congratulated on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, adding that Serbia will continue to deepen cooperation with China to build the Belt and Road.

He said that the SNS is willing to increase interactions with the CPC and exchange experience on governing the party and the country, improve its ability of governance, and strengthen cooperation with China in the field of anti-corruption.

At the invitation of SNS, Yang, who heads a CPC delegation, started his visit to Serbia on Saturday. During the visit, Yang also met with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and President of the Socialist Party of Serbia Ivica Dacic, who is also the foreign minister.
