Bangladesh approves development projects worth about 1.37 bln USD

DHAKA, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's highest economic policy-making body on Tuesday approved 10 development projects worth about 114.67 billion taka (about 1.37 billion U.S. dollars).

The projects were approved at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

After the meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan told journalists that the projects include a 17.61 billion-taka program to conduct the 6th population census and house listing from Jan. 2 to Jan. 8 in 2021.

Of the total cost of 10 approved projects, according to the minister, over 82.71 billion taka will come from the national exchequer, 2.67 billion taka from project assistance and about 29.28 billion taka from foreign assistance. (1 U.S. dollar equals 84 Bangladeshi taka)
