Malaysia's Q3 construction work done value falls 0.6 pct

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's construction work done value contracted 0.6 percent year-on-year to 36.1 billion ringgit (about 8.72 billion U.S. dollars) in the third quarter, official data showed Monday.

Malaysian Statistics Department said in a statement that the civil engineering sub-sector registered the highest growth in the third quarter with 7.5 percent growth rate, followed by the special trades activities sub-sector which rose 2.8 percent.

However, the residential buildings sub-sector and non-residential buildings sub-sector declined by 2.7 percent and 11.6 percent, respectively.

The civil engineering sub-sector remained as the key contributor to the value of construction work done in the third quarter, followed by non-residential buildings, residential buildings and special trades activities.

The private sector continued to propel the construction activity with 54.3 percent share value of construction work done.
