Singapore’s NODX falls by 12.3 pct on year in October

SINGAPORE, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Singapore’s non-oil domestic exports (NODX) decreased by 12.3 percent year on year in October, after the 8.1 decrease in September, according to a media release issued by a government agency Enterprise Singapore on Monday.

On a month-on-month seasonally adjusted basis, the NODX declined by 2.9 percent in October to 13.4 billion Singapore dollars (about 9.84 billion US dollars).

In a breakdown of Singapore’s total NODX, Singapore’s electronic exports declined by 16.4 percent year on year in October, following the 24.8 percent contraction in the previous month. Meanwhile, the non-electronic exports decreased by 11 percent year on year, following the 2.3 percent decline in September.

The NODX to the majority of Singapore’s top markets decreased in the month, except China's Taiwan. The largest contributors to the NODX decline were Japan, the European Union's 28 countries and the United States.

Singapore’s NODX to the Chinese mainland declined by 5.5 percent year on year in October, following the 20.8 percent increase in September.

In a breakdown, the electronic exports of Singapore to the Chinese mainland fell by 21.3 percent year on year in October, while the non-electronic exports was unchanged.
