TIRANA, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- In the third quarter of 2019, Albania's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 3.81 percent year-on-year, Finance and Economy Minister Anila Denaj said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Denaj referred to the latest data published on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT).

Denaj said that the sector of trade, transport, accommodation and food services was the main contributors to the economic growth.

"This sector registered a growth of 6.69 percent and gave a contribution of 1.3 percentage points to the GDP in the third quarter," she said.

According to the minister, the good performance of the services sector, which is directly related to tourism activities, was also a key factor in accelerating economic growth.

"In this period, a positive impact was also given by the 'industry, electricity and water group' that increased by 5.85 percent with a contribution of 0.67 percentage points to the GDP," Denaj added.
