RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Industrial production in Brazil dipped by 1.2 percent in November compared to the previous month, government statistics institute IBGE said on Thursday.

The result put an end to a three-month streak of increases in output and marked the worst outcome for November since 2015.

Compared to the same month of 2018, November's industrial production fell by 1.7 percent.

From January to November, industrial production has shrunk 1.1 percent year on year in the Latin America's largest economy.

The IBGE blamed the poor outcome on "a fall in production in four major economic categories and in 16 of 26 activities analyzed."

Brazil's automotive sector suffered the biggest contraction with a plunge of 4.4 percent, followed by food products with a dorp of 3.3 percent, and extraction industries with a decrease of 1.7 percent.
