At 07:00 (AEST), the Australian dollar was buying 60.76 U.S. cents, down from 61.47 U.S. cents on Wednesday.
"Preliminary estimates for March indicate that the index decreased by 3.7 percent (on a monthly average basis) in SDR terms, after increasing by 1.0 percent in February (revised). The base metals, rural and non-rural subindices all decreased in the month," the RBA said in a statement.
At 09:00 (AEST), the local unit was buying 60.70 U.S. cents.
