Eleven New Zealanders have now died from COVID-19.
Director of Public Health Caroline McElnay said a man in his 90s at Waikato Hospital who was related to a cluster in the North Island, and a woman in her 80s at Burwood Hospital in Christchurch, were the two recent deaths.
The woman was a resident at the Rosewood Rest Home and seven deaths have been related to the cluster.
Also, on Friday, New Zealand reported two new confirmed and six new probable cases of COVID-19, all linked to old cases, bringing the total number of confirmed and probable infections to 1,409 in the country.
Currently, 14 people are in hospital, with three in ICU, including two in a critical condition. A total of 816 people had recovered, McElnay said.
She said 4,241 tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, with 74,401 total tests so far.
New Zealand entered a four-week lockdown, or epidemic response Alert Level 4, from midnight March 25. The lockdown will end midnight next Wednesday and the government will decide whether to lower the alert level on time next Monday.
