LOS ANGELES, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Arizona State Governor Doug Ducey on Thursday ordered restaurants to work at half of their capacity as authorities seek to control a strong coronavirus outbreak that has doubled the daily case count in two weeks.

The state will increase testing with a focus on low-income areas of its capital city Phoenix as many people report it is hard or impossible to find tests, said the governor at a press conference.

Arizona continues to report record highs in hospitalizations and use of ventilators. After a drop in the number of new cases in the early part of the week, they shot back above 4,000 on Thursday.

With additional 4,057 cases reported, the number of total confirmed cases has increased to 112,671. Health officials also reported Thursday 75 more deaths, bringing the state's total to 2,038.
