S. Korea's use of internet banking services posts double-digit growth in H1

SEOUL, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's use of internet banking services posted a double-digit growth in the first half of this year, central bank data showed Monday.

The daily average use of internet banking services, including mobile banking, was 208.1 million in the January-June period, up 25.5 percent from the previous six-month period, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

In terms of value, the daily internet banking services averaged 55.3 trillion won (47.1 billion U.S. dollars) in the first half, up 10.9 percent from six months earlier.

The amount of loan application through internet banking advanced 20.0 percent in the first half, with money transfer expanding 10.9 percent in the cyberspace.

The number of internet banking users was 164.8 million as of the end of June, up 3.5 percent from six months ago. The figure includes all registered users at 18 internet and mobile banking service providers.

The number of mobile banking users rose 6 percent to 128.3 million in the cited period.
