"This pandemic's blow to the economy has been extremely strong, and more or less that is the time in which we expect to see a recovery," the official said in an interview with local media.
Legarda pointed out that Ecuador has registered a 14-percent drop in exports so far this year and a 25-percent drop in imports.
"I think it will take two to three years to recover the level of trade we had before the crisis and, similarly, economic activity will take four to five years to recover the (previous) level," he said.
