NEW YORK, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Oil prices moved higher on Tuesday as risk-on mood returned to the market.

The West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for December delivery rose 85 cents to settle at 37.66 U.S. dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, while Brent crude for January delivery increased 74 cents to close at 39.71 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.

The moves followed an upbeat session on the oil market that saw the WTI and Brent gain 2.85 percent and 2.71 percent, respectively.

Prices were up amid the general recovery of the financial markets and a weak U.S. dollar and the general increase in risk appetite has lent a support, Eugen Weinberg, energy analyst at Commerzbank Research, said in a note on Tuesday.

U.S. equities rallied on Tuesday with the Dow jumping more than 600 points in the afternoon session.

Meanwhile, the dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.61 percent at 93.5534 in late trading.
