JAKARTA, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia received a loan of 1.5 billion Australian dollars (about 1.09 billion U.S. dollars) from the Australian government for the COVID-19 mitigation, a minister said on Thursday.

Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the COVID-19 pandemic has put tremendous pressure on the economies of different countries, including Indonesia.

"We are diversifying financial sources and the Australian support by providing 1.5 billion Australian dollar loan to Indonesia is a kind of supports that we truly appreciate," Indrawati said.

This loan, Indrawati added, would help Indonesia sustain the fiscal policy amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, Indonesia's economy has a 6.34-percent deficit and the country needs debt financing of up to 1,220.5 trillion Indonesian rupiahs (about 86.68 billion U.S. dollars).
