BEIJING, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

SPACE TRACKING SHIP

China's third-generation space tracking ship Yuanwang-6 departed for multiple spacecraft monitoring missions. The ship will carry out missions in the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean and operate at sea for more than 90 days.

Yuanwang-6 has already performed four maritime monitoring missions since the beginning of 2020, including maritime monitoring for the last satellite launch for China's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System.

RESEARCH FRONT REPORTS

China has released reports on research hotspots and emerging frontier in 2020. Titled "Research Fronts 2020" and "Research Fronts 2020: Active Fields, Leading Countries," the two reports were issued by the Institutes of Science and Development under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, National Science Library and Clarivate Analytics.

In the reports, 110 hot and 38 emerging research fronts are identified out of 11 broad research areas.

CIVIL AVIATION MARKET

China is still on track to become the world's largest civil aviation market with strong growth despite the near-term challenges, said Boeing's latest market forecast.

China's airlines are expected to acquire 8,600 new airplanes valued at 1.4 trillion U.S. dollars over the next 20 years. It reflects an expected robust recovery of the Chinese market following the COVID-19 pandemic.
