Aussie dollar hits two-year high

SYDNEY, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Australian dollar climbed higher against the greenback on Friday, hitting a two-year high as the defensive U.S. dollar fell.

At 07:00 (AEST), the Australian dollar was buying 74.44 U.S. cents, up from 74.05 U.S. cents on Thursday.

The U.S. dollar index fell 0.50 percent on the day to a fresh three-year low as fiscal relief talks made progress. The Australian dollar took advantage to rise to 74.50, its highest level since 2018.

At 09:30 (AEST), the local unit was buying 74.39 U.S. cents.
