TOKYO, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday as sentiment was lifted after U.S. shares closed at record highs late last week on expectations for progress on stimulus talks.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 13.63 points, or 0.05 percent, from Friday to 26,764.87.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, rose 0.99 point, or 0.06 percent, at 1,776.93.

Marine transportation, mining and wholesale trade issues comprised those gaining the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
