SEOUL, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- South Korean stocks opened lower Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) dipped 11.16 points, or 0.36 percent, to trade at 3,109.47 as of 10:20 a.m. local time.

The local currency was quoted at 1,119.5 won versus the U.S. dollar, up 4.2 won from the previous close.
