Singapore's manufacturing output increases 2.1 pct on year in April

SINGAPORE, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) announced on Tuesday that the country's manufacturing output increased 2.1 percent year on year in April, compared to the 7.6 percent increase in the previous month.

Excluding biomedical manufacturing, the output grew 11.1 percent year on year in April, compared to the 14.9 percent growth in March.

As for the performance of different clusters, the electronics cluster's output grew 6.1 percent year on year in April, while the biomedical manufacturing cluster saw its output decline 22.7 percent, the chemicals cluster's output grew 14.4 percent, the precision engineering cluster's output grew 20.4 percent, the transport engineering cluster's output increased 19 percent, and the general manufacturing cluster's output increased 18 percent.
