S.Korea's consumer price rises 3.6 pct in January

SEOUL, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's consumer price rose 3.6 percent in January from a year ago, hovering above 3 percent for the fourth consecutive month, statistical office data showed Friday.

The consumer price inflation came to 3.2 percent in October, 3.8 percent in November and 3.7 percent in December each on expensive farm goods and oil products, according to Statistics Korea.

Price for agricultural, livestock and fishery products jumped 6.3 percent in January from a year earlier, and price for industrial products, including oil products, went up 4.2 percent.

Price for electricity, natural gas and tap water advanced 2.9 percent last month, and private services price increased 3.9 percent.

Core consumer price, which excludes volatile farm goods and oil products, gained 3.0 percent in January on a yearly basis. It was the fastest growth in 10 years since January 2012.
