Refineries operated at 93.2 percent of their operable capacity last week, said the Weekly Petroleum Data report.
Gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 9.4 million b/d. Distillate fuel production increased, averaging 5.1 million b/d.
U.S. commercial crude oil inventories, excluding those in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, went down by 1.0 million barrels from the previous week to 419.8 million barrels, about 14 percent below the five year average for this time of year.
Also in last week, total motor gasoline inventories decreased by 0.5 million barrels, about 8 percent below the five year average for this time of year.
Finished gasoline and blending components inventories both fell last week, but distillate fuel inventories increased by 1.7 million barrels, about 21 percent below the five year average for this time of year.
Propane/propylene inventories surged by 1.8 million barrels last week, about 8 percent below the five year average for this time of year. Total commercial petroleum inventories also increased by 0.7 million barrels.
Total products supplied over the last four week period averaged 19.5 million b/d, up by 2.1 percent from the same period last year.
Over the past four weeks, motor gasoline product supplied averaged 8.8 million b/d, down by 2.7 percent from the same period last year. Distillate fuel product supplied averaged 3.9 million b/d over the past four weeks, down by 7.2 percent from the same period last year.
Jet fuel product supplied was up 22 percent compared with the same four week period last year.
