A national survey conducted by poll agency Pulse Asia in June with 1,200 people aged 18 and above showed that 57 percent of the respondents said the new administration of Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos must control inflation amid the spiraling cost of basic commodities.
Also ranked high in the public's list of urgent concerns is the need to raise the workers' salaries, create more jobs and combat corruption.
Marcos won the May presidential elections, allowing him to rule the Southeast Asian country of more than 110 million for the next six years. Marcos officially assumed the presidency on June 30 as the country grapples with rising food and fuel prices, huge foreign debt and joblessness due to the pandemic.
