The ICT products shipment grew 18.9 percent over the year to 122.55 billion U.S. dollars in the January-June period, marking the highest first-half figure since data began to be compiled in 1996, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
It accounted for about 35 percent of the country's total export in the first half.
Semiconductor export jumped 20.9 percent from a year earlier to hit a fresh high of 69.52 billion dollars in the first half.
Shipment for computers and peripherals surged 38.6 percent to log a new high of 10.13 billion dollars, and mobile phone export grew 3.1 percent to 6.66 billion dollars.
The ICT export to China, South Korea's biggest trading partner, advanced 11.9 percent to 54.46 billion dollars in the first half, and those to the United States and the European Union (EU) rose in double digits to 15.35 billion dollars and 7.63 billion dollars respectively.
The ICT products import expanded 18.4 percent from a year earlier to 74.37 billion dollars in the first half, sending the trade surplus to 48.18 billion dollars.
