HELSINKI, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Finnish company Nokia's results in the second quarter (Q2) this year were better than market expectations, as the company has managed to improve its competitiveness in the 5G mobile phone network technology, the company's financial report showed on Thursday.

According to the report, Nokia's Q2 comparable operating profit stood at 714 million euros (728 million U.S. dollars), increasing by 5 percent from 682 million euros in the same period of last year, while its net sales reached 5.87 billion euros, up by 11 percent year-on-year.

Analysts forecasted earlier that Nokia's net sales for Q2 were 5.6 billion euros and a comparable operating profit of 632 million euros.

Nokia's President and CEO Pekka Lundmark said that Nokia delivered another quarter of robust profitability, and continued strong improvement in the underlying profitability of the business can be seen.

Despite the strong performance in Q2, Lundmark warned that macroeconomic uncertainties have increased in different parts of the world, and significant fluctuations in exchange rates can affect developing markets.

According to the financial report, Nokia expected that in the entire year 2022 its net sales will be between 23.5 billion euros and 24.7 billion euros. (1 euro = 1.02 U.S. dollars)
