S.Korea's producer price keeps rising for 6 months in June

SEOUL, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Price for goods and services among South Korean suppliers kept rising for six straight months in June on the back of higher energy costs, central bank data showed Friday.

The producer price index (PPI) stood at 120.04 in June, up 0.5 percent from a month earlier, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

The index continued to rise for the sixth consecutive month, but the growth pace slowed down with 1.6 percent in April and 0.7 percent in May.

The producer price for industrial products, including oil products, advanced 0.7 percent in June from a month earlier.

Price for coal and oil products jumped 4.7 percent, but primary metal products price declined 0.8 percent.

Producer price for agricultural and fishery products increased 1.2 percent and 3.0 percent respectively, but livestock products price retreated 1.1 percent last month.

Services price added 0.2 percent, and the price for electricity, natural gas and tap water was up 0.2 percent.
