The year-on-year employment growth has been on the decline this year, gradually falling from 1,135,000 in January and 1,037,000 in February to 865,000 in April and 841,000 in June, according to Statistics Korea.
Employment rate for those aged 15 or higher increased 1.6 percentage points over the year to 62.9 percent in July.
The number of those unemployed came to 836,000 in July, down 84,000 from a year earlier. Jobless rate slipped 0.3 percentage points to 2.9 percent.
