SYDNEY, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- An infrastructure blueprint, which includes a series of transport hubs designed to streamline commuting within Australia's most populated state, New South Wales (NSW), was unveiled on Monday.

The NSW government's Future Transport Strategy will begin with a pilot scheme of transport hubs in Parramatta and Chatswood, two of the busiest districts within the Sydney metropolitan region, along with a further two hubs in the major coastal cities of Wollongong and Coffs Harbour.

The hubs will feature more shops and community facilities located next to the train stations, enabling commuters to be within 15-minutes distance of virtually all their daily goods and services.

"We understand people lead busy lives which is why we're piloting convenient one-stop-shops for all your services at transport hubs by harnessing developments in data and technology," NSW Minister for Infrastructure, Cities and Active Transport Rob Stokes said in a statement.

During a press conference here on Monday, Stokes said the strategy was about "reimagining" train and bus stops and devising ways to encourage people not to rely on their cars.

He added that part of the plan involved providing more pathways for pedestrians and cyclists and "newer forms of getting around," including e-bikes, scooters and skateboards.

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet said the four initial hubs, along with the state's redeveloped transport network within the coming decades, would ultimately give people "more choice, shorter waiting times and quicker trips."

According to NSW Minister for Transport David Elliott, the "world-class" transport system would also be environmentally sound, with the train network "running on 100 percent renewables and there is the rollout of zero-emission buses across the state."
