The agreement paves the way for cooperation between Lebanese authorities and the WFP in surveying the types of crops suitable for cultivation in different arable regions in Lebanon, according to the report.
This helped lay the groundwork for Lebanon's agricultural development and food security, said Abdallah Al-Wardat, the country director and representative of WFP in Lebanon.
Thanking the WFP for its contribution to the work, Lebanese Agriculture Minister Abbas Hajj Hassan said the ministry would conduct the survey with the Lebanese army.
Lebanon, which heavily relies on imported grains, has been trying to activate its agriculture sector amid a steep crisis in the country and a shortage of foreign currency reserves.
