The GDP at current market prices was estimated at 3,279 billion Rwandan francs (about 3.16 billion U.S. dollars) in the second quarter of 2022, up from 2,668 billion in the second quarter of 2021, the report showed.
The sectors that supported overall growth included agriculture which grew by 2 percent, industry by 6 percent, and services by 12 percent.
Hotels and restaurants grew by 193 percent buoyed by the resumption of meetings, conferences and events, Yusuf Murangwa, NSIR's director general, said at a press briefing in Rwanda's capital Kigali.
In the second quarter, the services sector contributed 47 percent of GDP, agriculture activities contributed 25 percent, industry sector contributed 20 percent, and 8 percent was attributed to adjustment for taxes and subsidies on products, he said.
