The growth in sales value for the month was driven by electrical and electronics products subsector which surged 25.8 percent; petroleum, chemical, rubber and plastic products subsector that soared 27.6 percent; food, beverages and tobacco products subsector which jumped 18.4 percent, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.
Based on a month-on-month basis, the total sales value rose by 5.9 percent.
For the period January to August, the manufacturing sales value increased by 17.4 percent year-on-year to 1.16 trillion ringgit (248 billion U.S. dollars).
