New car sales in Russia plummet 60.8 pct in January-October

MOSCOW, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia declined 60.8 percent year on year in the first ten months of this year to 502,474 units, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said on Monday.

In October alone, sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles dropped 62.8 percent year on year to 45,228 units, the AEB said in a press release.

Russia's AvtoVAZ (Lada) was the best-selling brand in the country last month, while the Chinese brand Haval secured a second place, according to the association, an independent non-profit organization of over 500 European and Russian companies.
