U.S. dollar retreats as risk sentiment improves

NEW YORK, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar eased against its major rivals in late trading on Monday, as risk sentiment picked up, subduing demand for the safe-haven currency.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, fell 0.68 percent to 110.1190.

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.0028 U.S. dollars from 0.9951 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound increased to 1.1533 U.S. dollars from 1.1368 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 146.56 Japanese yen, lower than 146.82 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar decreased to 0.9878 Swiss francs from 0.9944 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3492 Canadian dollars from 1.3478 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar decreased to 10.8191 Swedish Kronor from 10.9077 Swedish Kronor.
