Food and non-alcoholic beverages saw the highest average price increase of 24.5 percent, followed by 23.8 percent in prices for transport, 19 percent for housing and utilities, 12.2 percent for furniture and furnishings and 11.5 percent for recreation and culture.
In November, a kilo of rice was sold for 2.1 euros (2.23 U.S. dollars), as against 1.6 euro in the same period of last year, according to the Agency for Statistics of BiH.
Meanwhile, the unit price for a kilo of wheat bread rose from 1.3 to 1.6 euro, whereas those for beef, pork and chicken rose from 7.5 to 9.5 euros, from 3.8 to 5.1 euros and from 2.6 to 3.2 euros respectively. A kilo of butter was sold for 16 euros compared to 12 euros in November last year.
Energy prices increased significantly: the price of a cubic meter of gas doubled from 0.35 to 0.7 euro over the past year. Firewood prices climbed from 44.3 to 54 euros, while the price of a liter of diesel rose from 1.2 to 1.7 euro. (1 euro= 1.06 U.S. dollar)
