Over 153 mln USD to be spent on running Indian gov't next fiscal year

NEW DELHI, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Over 12.58 billion Indian rupees (153.4 million U.S. dollars) will be incurred on meeting expenses for running different federal ministries and departments during the 2023-24 fiscal year in India.

The expenses include salaries and travelling expenses of federal ministers during the next financial year (April 2023-March 2024), according to a proposal in the Union Budget presented on Wednesday.

A major part of the allocation, a total of 8.3 billion Indian rupees (101 million U.S. dollars) has been earmarked for the federal Council of Ministers alone.

The Union Budget was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Indian parliament's lower house "Lok Sabha".

The total budget amount allocated for running the federal government also includes the expenditure for the Prime Minister's Office, the National Security Council Secretariat, office of the Principal Scientific Adviser, and extending secretarial assistance to former governors. It also includes a provision for special extra-session flight operations for VVIPs during the next fiscal year.

The budgetary allocation also comprises the expenses to be incurred on entertaining the visiting foreign state guests.

The total budgetary allocation also includes 626 million Indian rupees (7.6 million dollars) to be spent on the Prime Minister Office for meeting administrative expenses, showed the budge.
