According to an annual report issued by the authority, electricity consumption from renewable energy was 10.1 percent of Israel's total consumption in 2022, compared to 8.2 percent in 2021.
The Israeli government's targets for electricity generation from renewable energies are 20 percent in 2025 and 30 percent in 2030.
The report also showed that last year, an average of 96 megawatts of renewable energy facilities were connected in Israel every month, an increase of 23 percent compared to the monthly average of 2021, and of 123 percent compared to 2020.
Following the significant rise in the facility connection rate, the installed capacity of renewable energies in Israel reached 4,795 megawatts at the end of 2022, an increase of 31.1 percent year-on-year, the report noted.
More than half of the installed capacity comes from dual-use solar facilities, 35 percent from ground-based solar facilities, 5 percent from solar thermal energy, and 3 percent from wind energy.
The authority noted that the significant rise in the connection of renewable energy facilities was due to the country's competitive and beneficial regulations, alongside efforts made by the state-owned electricity companies.
