Indonesia's trade balance surplus up in February

JAKARTA, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia posted a trade balance surplus of 5.48 billion U.S. dollars in February, up from 3.88 billion U.S. dollars in the previous month, according to the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) on Wednesday.

"This is a surplus for 34 months in a row since May 2020 and is still on an upward trend," said BPS Deputy for Production Statistics M. Habibullah at a virtual press conference.

The non-oil and gas industry contributed 6.70 billion dollars but was reduced by a deficit in the oil and gas sector of 1.22 billion dollars.

During that period, exports totaled 21.40 billion dollars, listing China (5.04 billion dollars), the United States (1.91 billion dollars), Japan (1.74 billion dollars), and India (1.61 billion dollars) as main destination countries for non-oil and gas products.

Furthermore, the value of imports in February was 15.92 billion dollars, with the top suppliers of non-oil and gas products being China (4.04 billion dollars), Japan (1.41 billion dollars), Thailand (0.90 billion dollars), and South Korea (0.78 billion dollars).
