SEOUL, March 28 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's retail sales rose in single digits last month due to the lifting of measures against the COVID-19 pandemic, government data showed Tuesday.

Revenue among major online and offline retailers grew 7.9 percent in February from a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

Sales of offline retailers increased 8.0 percent in February on a yearly basis after sliding 0.5 percent in the previous month.

The rebound came as the eased anti-virus measures fueled outside activities, raising demand for clothing and sports items.

Offline demand for clothing, sports items and food gained in double figures, but the sales of home appliances and household items reduced last month.

Sales among department stores and discount outlets climbed in single digits, while revenue for convenience stores soared 10.2 percent on solid demand for instant food and daily necessities.

Revenue among online retailers expanded 7.8 percent in February from a year earlier on the back of robust demand for travel-related services and cultural performance tickets.
