The number of double-income households was 5,846,000 in October 2022, up 20,000 from a year earlier, according to Statistics Korea.
The ratio of double-income households to the total married households rose 0.2 percentage points to 46.1 percent last year, marking the highest since relevant data began to be compiled in 2015.
For those in their 40s and 50s, the ratio recorded the highest of 55.2 percent in age groups. It was followed by 54.2 percent for those in their 30s and 50.1 percent for those aged 15-29.
The ratio for those aged 60 or higher gained 0.5 percentage points over the year to 31.1 percent last year.
Meanwhile, the number of single-member households was 7,224,000 in 2022, up 184,000 from the previous year.
Of the total single-member households, 63.1 percent were employed in 2022, up 1.3 percentage points from a year earlier.
