SEOUL, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's government on Friday saw the country's economic slump eased owing to the export recovery and improved consumer sentiment.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance said in its monthly report, called Green Book, that the economy's slowdown moderated partially, although there would be monthly volatility in coming months.

It noted that the export volume recovered while consumer sentiment and employment improved amid the slowing headline inflation.

Export retreated 16.5 percent in July from a year earlier, but export volume rebounded 7.5 percent in June, marking the first turnaround in four months.

Sentiment among consumers over economic situation improved last month, but business sentiment worsened amid lingering worry about earnings in the second half.

The number of jobs grew 211,000 in July from a year earlier, while jobless rate slipped 0.2 percentage points to 2.7 percent last month.

Consumer prices added 2.3 percent in July on a yearly basis after increasing 2.7 percent in the previous month.

Production in the mining and manufacturing industry diminished 1.0 percent in June from the previous month, but output in the services industry gained 0.5 percent.
