Jordan's tourism revenues up by 50 pct in Jan.-July

AMMAN, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Jordan recorded ove4.23 billion U.S. dollars of tourism revenues in January-July, up by 50.1 percent from the same period last year, the Central Bank of Jordan said Monday.

The number of tourists arriving in the country increased to 3.72 million, up by 51.3 percent during the first seven months of this year, with overnight tourists amounting to 3.085 million, an increase of 47 percent, and single-night guests totaling 635,000, up by 76.2 percent, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

The central bank data showed a 19.4 percent rise in tourism revenues in July alone, compared with the same month in 2022, amounting to a total of 782.1 million dollars.

Outbound tourism expenditure reached 241 million dollars in July 2023, constituting an increase of 13.1 percent compared with the same month in 2022.

Jordanians' expenditure on outbound tourism rose by 37.9 percent during January-July of 2023 compared with the same period of 2022, reaching 1.147 billion dollars, the data showed.
