Japan's economy shrinks 2.1 pct in Q3

TOKYO, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Japan's economy shrank by an annualized rate of 2.1 percent in the July-September period, the government said on Wednesday.

According to the Cabinet Office, this marked the first contraction in three quarters.

Real gross domestic product (GDP), the total value of goods and services produced in Japan adjusted for inflation during the quarter, decreased 0.5 percent from the previous quarter, the government's preliminary figures showed.
