S. Korea's producer price falls in October

SEOUL, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Price for goods and services among South Korean suppliers marked the first fall in four months due to cheaper farm goods, central bank data showed Tuesday.

The producer price index (PPI) slipped 0.1 percent in October from a month earlier after gaining 0.3 percent in July, 0.9 percent in August and 0.5 percent in September, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

Price for agricultural, livestock and fishery products among suppliers tumbled 5.5 percent last month after increasing 0.2 percent in the previous month.

Producer price for industrial products, including oil products, added 0.1 percent in October on a monthly basis.

Price for coal and oil products decreased 1.4 percent, but price for computers, electronic and optical devices picked up 0.8 percent last month.

Price for electricity, natural gas and tap water climbed 0.4 percent in October from a month ago, keeping an upward trend for the second straight month.

Service price rose 0.1 percent last month due to higher costs of transport and real estate services.
