The combined revenue among major offline and online retailers increased 6.4 percent in October from a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Revenue for online retailers expanded 12.6 percent, while sales by offline retailers added 0.5 percent last month.
Food demand in the cyberspace jumped 23.4 percent, and online demand for daily necessities such as kitchen and cleaning supplies advanced 16.9 percent.
Food sales in offline stores climbed 2.0 percent, but offline demand for clothing, sports items, home appliances and daily supplies retreated in single digits.
Revenue among discount outlets and department stores declined 4.1 percent and 2.6 percent each, but sales in the convenience stores went up 6.8 percent last month.
