U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.22 percent to 103.197 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.0922 U.S. dollars from 1.0929 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.2685 U.S. dollars from 1.2698 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 146.88 Japanese yen, higher than 145.02 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.8618 Swiss francs from 0.8530 Swiss francs, and it decreased to 1.3746 Canadian dollars from 1.3769 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar dropped to 10.4815 Swedish kronor from 10.5254 Swedish kronor.
