SEOUL, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's state-run power utility Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) logged operating loss for the third consecutive year, regulatory filing showed Friday.

Operating loss came to 4.57 trillion won (3.4 billion U.S. dollars) in 2023 after posting losses of a record 32.6 trillion won (24.5 billion dollars) in 2022 and 5.85 trillion won (4.4 billion dollars) in 2021.

Last year's operating loss dwindled compared to the previous year as the electricity provider hiked power bills amid the lower global fuel prices.

The power plant operator's revenue jumped 23.8 percent over the year to 88.21 trillion won (66.3 billion dollars) in 2023 on the back of higher electricity charges.

Operating cost declined 10.7 percent last year on lower fuel expenses.
