BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Brunei plans to set up a 30 MW new solar power plant to ramp up to 200 MW of the country's solar energy by 2025, according to a senior official of Brunei Darussalam.

During the meeting of the 20th session of the Legislative Council, Brunei's Second Minister of Defense Haji Awang Halbi unveiled the plan for the new solar plant, which aims to be operational by 2025, local media The Scoop reported on Monday.

Brunei is renowned for its abundant oil and natural gas resources. In recent years, the Brunei government has been committed to developing renewable energy such as solar power to promote energy structure and economic diversification.
