NEW YORK, May 13 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.08 percent to 105.217 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.0790 U.S. dollars from 1.0774 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound climbed to 1.2558 U.S. dollars from 1.2528 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 156.20 Japanese yen, higher than 155.84 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.9081 Swiss francs from 0.9063 Swiss francs, and it fell to 1.3670 Canadian dollars from 1.3673 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar added to 10.8391 Swedish kronor from 10.8377 Swedish kronor.
